Notes for Alson Chambers Masters:Nov 2004Spoke with my Uncle Richard Masters about Alson and Goldie.He didn't remember her cooking. Said it seemed that by the time he was old enough to have memories they always went out to eat. He said the older boys told him that her favorite thing was chicken and dumplings and that she always said she was a great cook. We talked about Willis and Olive Irwin and Richard said he did remember that Olive was a great cook. He also told me that Willis had a dairy farm not far from the Polk Run Church in Pennsylvania. He remembered that he use to slaughter pigs and cure them.Also, he told me that Alson Masters use to own a rock quarry until the state came through with a road there.Alson had a service station there also.It may be that the land that Alson owned was part of the original homestead of William Masters. We need more research on this to know for sure.Uncle Richard said he remembered his grandfather as a kind and gentle man. Very soft spoken.We also talked of the baby girl that was born and he believes that she was most likely still born.

Notes for Effie Griffis:As told to me my Brenda Masters Matthews Jan 2005Effie was first married to Lacy Ruis and had to children. A son named Edward and a daughter named Alice.Lacy and one of the children were killed in a auto accident. The other died of crib death. Notes for Cloyd Donald Masters:Story as told to Beverly J Masters by Cloyd D Masters:One night when he went on guard duty the man he relived told him that he had fired two shots into the bushes. Because it was night he did not go beyond the boundaries to check it out. So Cloyd took over on guard duty and about two hours into his shift he heard noised in the bushes. He yelled out "Hu;Lt, Who goes there?" No one replied. (You see the enemy was always sneaking into their camps to steal food. Well a little time passed and he heard the noise again.Again; he yelled out "Hult, Who goes there?" When he got no reply but still heard the noise he fired two shots in the direction of the sounds. The rest of his shift was quite. The next morning he and the other man went out to look around where they had heard the sounds and they found a dead man. One of the enemy. Cloy and the other man never knew which one of them had killed the man but Cloyd said that it always bothered him and to the day he died did not ever go hunting.1997

Dad said that his older brother, Arthur, had been in an accident and could not walk. They use to carry him everywhere and they use to take him outside and set him U;under a tree so that he could watch dad and grandpa work on cars. Well, one day the two of them where starting to work on this man's car when the man noticed Arthur sitting under a tree. The man ask what was wrong with him and grandpa explained that he had been in an accident and could not walk and that the doctor's said that it did not look like he would. The man ask grandpa if he could take a look at Arthur and grandpa said yes. Well the man went over to Arthur and helped him lay flat on the ground. The man felt of Arthur's back and then pushed on it a couple of times. Then he helped Arthur set back up. Arthur had tears in his eyes and grandpa ask him if the man had hurt him. Arthur told him no he was not hurt. He was crying because he could feel his legs for the first time since the accident. He did learn how to walk again. The man whose name my father did not know had been a chiropractor which in those days people did not belive in.1997--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For most of his life he believed that his birth date was June 2,1920. When his mother died he found his birth certificate and learned he was really born in 1919. His mother had lied about it as she wanted to keep him home from school another year.
He had a drinking problem most of his life but this did not prevent him from being a good father and working every day. He was very easy going and loved his family although he was not one to say it.

She was a very outgoing person who did not know a stranger. She had a big heart and even though she did not have much of an upbringing she did an outstanding job of raising her children the best she knew how.
Kenneth Brooks was paid by Alta Treon Kennedy,Marionell's mother, to marry her. They were said to marry about 3 weeks before Carol was born. Carol was not Kenneth's child.
Note: Marionell died June 1 at 10:30 P.M. her deceased husband Cloyd Masters birthday was June 2.She was devoted to her husband and family. She strongly believe in family as I gather she didn't have a close family life as a young girl.She spent a lot of time with her father's side of the family and with her great grandmother Cordillia Treon in Shelbyville, Indiana. I remember as a young girl that whenever we would come to Indiana we would go to visit Grandma Treon first.
